Install Capslock, learn the default layout, customize it, and fix problems.
Capslock turns Caps Lock into a second keyboard layer on macOS. Three ideas explain everything else:
- Tap and hold. Tapping Caps Lock sends Escape. Holding it turns the keys
under your hands into actions:
⇪ H J K Lmove the cursor,⇪ Ndeletes a word,⇪ Eopens Safari. - Planes. The modifiers you hold with Caps Lock choose one of sixteen
planes.
⇪ Hmoves left,⇪ ⌘ Hselects left,⇪ ⌥ Hmoves the mouse left. - Mappings. Each key on each plane maps to one action, optionally with a different action in particular apps. Capslock ships the complete Capslock Classic layout and lets you change any of it.
New to Capslock? Start with Install and first run, then keep Default layout open while you learn.
